In Short

We recommend that you schedule class meetings through the Zoom link in Canvas. Simply click on the Zoom link in the lefthand navigation bar, and click Schedule a New Meeting. Please note that all instructional staff can use the same link to schedule their own class meetings. Follow the tips below to schedule recurring meetings or import Zoom meetings.

Step-by-step

Locate Zoom in the left course navigation
Click Schedule a New Meeting in the top right corner
Fill out the open fields and select your settings
Click Save

To start a scheduled meeting, select Zoom from the left course navigation, then select Start next to the desired meeting. Students can join the meeting by selecting Zoom too, though they will see Join instead.

Cleaning up your Zoom Page

When scheduling recurring meetings in your Canvas course, the screen will populate with separate links for each meeting session. For large courses with multiple sections and office hours, this can result in a cluttered Zoom page in Canvas. To declutter the page you should

A. Give your meeting a descriptive title and,

B. Schedule the meeting with "no fixed time"

Scheduling a meeting in this way will generate one link that you can use for the entire semester.

Import an Existing Meeting

If you have already scheduled your Zoom meetings outside of Canvas, you can import them to your Canvas course.

Go to the "3 dots" to the right top corner and select Import meeting
Enter the existing Meeting ID for the meeting that you would like to import into your Canvas course.
